Our 2024 Kayak Camps (Ages 10-16) are a great way to introduce the exciting sport of whitewater paddling. Our 5-day courses over the Summer are a great way to introduce or continue to build skills, and fun for the Beginner through Advanced paddler. The week-long courses spend quality time on the river gaining confidence and knowledge incorporating proper techniques of river running to play boating. Kids will meet long lasting friends that have a while learning to kayak.

- Summer camps are non-refundable. You may change your camp dates or defer your camp up to one year after registration due to illness or injury. Early departures of any kind are not subject to refunds.
- Once camp begins Sunday’s at 6 pm, parents are welcome to ask for updates via email or phone by our head instructor, but please refrain from unscheduled or approved personal visits until pick up on Friday at 5 p.m.
Adult 17 and Older Kayak Lessons
For over 30 years, Riversport has been teaching quality instruction to thousands of beginners to advanced paddlers. We offer our progressive courses that focus on Safety, Proper Skills/ Technique, and Fun while in a positive learning Environment.
Our 4:1 Student to instructor ratio for group instruction allows individual to be comfortable and learn in a progressive manner. Students receive the best instruction in the appropriate class to match their goals. Our instructors are ACA Whitewater Certified, American Red Cross Certified with proper Wilderness First Responder, and Advanced First Aid/ CPR certifications.
Kayak Instruction Lessons- (includes all kayaking equipment, transportation, and lunch)
Time: 9 a.m.-4:30 pm (45 min lunch break)
Private Instruction- 1 Person- $199
Group Lessons – 2 Person-$145 each.
Group Lessons- 3 Person- $125 each.
Group Lesson- 4 Person- $110 each.
Group Lesson- 5 or more Persons- $95 each.
Rolling/ Stroke Concept Lesson- 2 hours 1:1 instruction- $50 (Call for Scheduling a Time)
History of Riversport
Originally known as River Paths in the late 1970’s, the operations moved across the river and evolved into Riversport during the early 1980’s. Since the mid 80’s, Riversport has been a family owned business and premier instructional paddling school with a retail store located along the majestic Youghiogheny River in Confluence, Pennsylvania. We have a knowledgeable staff of ACA certified instructors, young National Geographic sponsored paddlers, professional ski instructors, and teachers that provide safe and positive learning experiences on the water. Our rental location specializes in recreation on the Youghiogheny River and Lake with stable Kayaks, stable SUPs and relaxing Rafting trips.
Directions
Our main store, instructional, and rental location is right next to the Youghiogheny Bridge on 281. We are across the river from the Outflow Campground, and next to the Lucky Dog Café.
Directions From East on Turnpike: Take I-76 West (PA TurnPike) Exit at Somerset (exit 10) drive straight from the toll booth to main intersection and follow 281 South signs to Confluence, PA (24 miles). Continue to follow 281 South through town. Then 281 S will take you across the Castleman River bridge and we are located just on the left before you cross the Yough River Bridge (next to the Lucky Dog Café)
Directions From Ohio & West on Turnpike: Take I-76 East (PA Turnpike) Exit at Donegal (old exit 9) turn Left out of toll booth and drive 1.5 miles to 711/381 intersection. Follow 711 to Normalville, then turn left onto 381 and continue to Ohiopyle. In Ohiopyle take Sugarloaf Road (between boater change house parking lots). Sugarloaf Road brings you to 281. Take a left, and continue down the hill on 281 N. You will cross the Youghiogheny River Bridge. We are located on the Right (next to the Lucky Dog Café)
